About Melanotan II
Melanotan II is a shorter, ring-shaped relative of Melanotan I. Like its sibling, it mimics α-MSH, the hormone that tells pigment cells to make melanin. The difference is reach. Melanotan II is less selective and activates several melanocortin receptors, not only MC1. That wider profile is why it is studied not just for tanning but also in research on appetite and other melanocortin-driven processes. It is also the parent compound of PT-141.
