About PT-141
PT-141, also called bremelanotide, was developed from Melanotan II after researchers noticed an unexpected side effect: an increase in sexual arousal. It acts on melanocortin receptors in the brain, mainly MC3 and MC4, which are involved in motivation and desire. That makes it quite different from compounds that work on blood flow: PT-141 is studied for acting on the "wanting" side, in both men and women.
