About SS-31
SS-31, also called elamipretide, belongs to the Szeto-Schiller family of small peptides designed to go straight to the mitochondria. With just four amino acids, it passes easily into cells and settles on the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it binds to cardiolipin, a fat that keeps the energy-producing machinery in shape.
